With fire dangers forcing those experiencing homelessness out of area forests, Flagstaff Shelter Services is providing shelter to those who need it most, when they are in their season of greatest need.
In Coconino County, the state estimates nearly 670 people are homeless, and about a quarter of them come to Flagstaff Shelter Services for help. Shelter Director Ross Altenbaugh talked with NPR’s Morning Edition recently about the challenges and what the shelter is doing to provide services to these individuals.
