It takes a lot to run the shelter

When a client arrives, they are greeted at check-in and given clean bath towels and any hygiene items they need. Anyone can grab a hot shower – day or night.

Each person is assigned a bed. Our accommodations are simple but provide the essentials for a good night’s sleep. Each bunk is made with freshly laundered sheets, blankets, and pillows.

After check-in, a healthy dinner prepared by the Family Food Center is served in the dining area. Sandwiches and snacks are also provided in the morning.

During the day, our staff and volunteers prepare the shelter for the next night. This means general property maintenance, supplies organization, shelter cleaning and sanitation. Anything that will make things easier for our staff that evening.

We shelter 163 a night, so we go through supplies very quickly around here:

“You don’t know how much you need something like socks until you don’t have enough of them.”
