It takes a lot to run the shelter

When a client arrives, they are greeted at check-in and given clean bath towels and any hygiene items they need. Anyone can grab a hot shower – day or night.

Each person is assigned a bed. Our accommodations are simple but provide the essentials for a good night’s sleep. Each bunk is made with freshly laundered sheets, blankets, and pillows.

After check-in, a healthy dinner prepared by the Family Food Center is served in the dining area. Sandwiches and snacks are also provided in the morning.

During the day, our staff and volunteers prepare the shelter for the next night. This means general property maintenance, supplies organization, shelter cleaning and sanitation. Anything that will make things easier for our staff that evening.

We shelter 163 a night, so we go through supplies very quickly around here:

Gently used items

People ask all the time, where can I donate clothes, furniture and used housing supplies in Flagstaff? The answer is always the same: We will gladly accept your gently used items.

Clothing, dish sets, hygiene or other small household items can be dropped off at the shelter anytime between 9:00am and 3:00pm – 7 days a week. Getting rid of an old couch, mattress, dining room furniture or other large item? Best to coordinate large item donations by contacting us at hello@flagshelter.org

Welcome Home packages

It’s really something special to see a client on the day they move into their new home. They are often overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude.

Everyone needs a few basics to get started in their new home. If you would like to donate new or gently used housing supplies for our “welcome home packages” here’s a list of what we like to include:
