When a client arrives, they are greeted at check-in and given clean bath towels and any hygiene items they need (shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, razors, feminine products, etc.). Anyone can grab a hot shower – day or night (daytime hours 9am-2pm).
Each person is assigned a bed. Our accommodations are simple but provide the essentials for a good night’s sleep. Each bunk is made with freshly laundered sheets, blankets, and pillows.
After check-in, a healthy dinner prepared by the Family Food Center is served in the dining area. Sandwiches and snacks are also provided in the morning.
During the day, our staff and volunteers help clients connect with the community with the resources that they need to change their circumstances. They also prepare the shelter for the next night. This means general property maintenance, supplies organization, shelter cleaning and sanitation. Anything that will make things easier for our staff that evening.
We are always in need of in-kind items. If you are grocery shopping, picking up an extra pack of toilet paper or a bottle of laundry detergent is greatly appreciated. Our shelter hosts 163 people every night of the year, so supplies run out very quickly around here. We can always use more.
